We are very fortunate to have the services of some committed club members who do a lot for our club "behind the scenes", (although they are not on the Club's Management Committee) - such as Bert van den Raad - who kindly produces our weekly BLITZ FLITS Newsletter which is also available from the Home Page of our Web site at http://www.acrw.co.za/default.asp#BF

Bert also very often takes the Club trailer to races, (as do Eugene & Mike) sets up the Gazebo(s) and waits patiently till the last skillie is ready to leave before dismantling the Gazebo (normally with some help from a few of the remaining skillies - please don't abandon Bert to sukkel with this on his own) and bringing the trailer back to the clubhouse. Although some of the committee members also often help out with this, we would really appreciate any other "volunteers" who would be prepared to help with getting the trailer to races (and like Bert, you don't need to serve on the committee to do this) - but everyone really appreciates having the trailer at races.

You will receive an amount per KM to help cover your petrol with pulling the trailer, and your entry fee for entering that race will be covered by the club.

Bert also plays a major role in the organisation of the Wally Hayward Marathon - as do several other skillies who are not necessarily all on the Management Committee, and also runs around getting licence numbers and temporary licence numbers for us from the AGN offices and attends race planning meetings for races that ACRW is involved in AND a LOT more besides.

Robbie Morton and Susan Rademeyer also kindly spend a lot of time behind the scenes auditing the club's financial records and assisting our Treasurer, Flip Viviers, with the clubs books.

These are just a few examples of how members make invaluable contributions to the functioning of the club behind the scenes (without needing to serve on the committee). There are obviously MANY more similar club members who help in many ways behind the scenes - but once we start trying to list them all we are bound to inadvertantly omit someone. They all know who they are and they all know how much we really appreciate all their hard work and support (that all club members benefit from).

One task where we would really appreciate some help occasionally from non-committee members (besides the trailer) is with taking times at the weekly Time Trials - the more people prepared to volunteer to help with this occasionally, the less often each person that is prepared to help would need to take times.

Where members help our club through their businesses, we would really like to at least place a link to their businesses' Web sites on this Web site, as a token of our appreciation for all that they do to support the club and so club members can support those who support us.

So, if YOU are one of these helpful business people, please send your logo and the URL of your Web site to info@acrw.co.za and we'll publish your logo linked to your Web site (with a brief paragraph on what goods and/or services you provide) within the pages of this Web site.

New Management Committee members are are elected at the Annual General Meeting, which is normally held on the LAST WEDNESDAY OF OCTOBER, immediately after the Time Trial.

Club members will be notified, as per the constitution, of the actual date of this meeting, when it is finalised.

The final date will appear in the newsletter, will be announced at Time Trials, will be e-mailed to those with e-mail and will also appear here.

SO, WATCH THIS SPACE.

However, PLEASE DIARISE THE LAST WEDNESDAY IN OCTOBER NOW, since this is VERY likely to be the next AGM date.

It is imperitive that ALL Club members make an effort to attend this meeting since the Club's Financial Statements are disclosed to everyone and besides electing the new Management Committee for the following year, matters affecting every club member are decided, including the following year's membership fees.

Special General Meetings can also occasionally be held to decide on matters that are important to the club that were not decided at the AGM. There will probably be a SGM this year. If so, the date and time will be announced in the Newsletter and at Time Trials and will be e-mailed to those with e-mail and will also appear here.
